8.f) Public Works Activity Report (June 2013) �.�) Public Works Activity Report ` � June 1 through June 30, 2013 � Tim Kieffer, Maintenance Superintendent ��1`.�lr �� (651) 433-5223 t.kieffer@ci.scandia.mn.us Maintenance tasks Street: • Potholed roads • Mowed ditches • Worked with contractor to replace two culverts • Worked with contractor to repair failing catch basin structure • Installed culvert on Layton Av. • Removed several trees from roads after storm • Repaired washouts on Pilar Rd • Picked up several appliances along roadside Sewer: • Read pump run times at all of the lift stations Park and Recreation: • Inspected playground equipment • Mowed and weed whipped all City property • Removed stakes from rotted steps at Wind in the Pines • Raised dock at Goose Lake • Removed tree from the Goose Lake Landing • Installed grommets and put up Farmer's Market banners Water: • Read water meters for Uptown system Equipment and Building: • Performed monthly OSHA inspections • Fixed radiator leak on the John Deere 6410 Tractor(302-99) Miscellaneous: � Located City utilities • Attended safety meeting Management tasks Street: • Met with resident and Watershed District about a culvert issue • Met with residents, contractor,and Watershed District about erosion issues on Layton Av. • Worked on proposal about an erosion issue for the Watershed District • Corresponded with Cedar Cliff residents about dust control • Scheduled street sweeping with contractor • Scheduled and supervised the bituminous patching • Ordered street signs • Corresponded with City Engineer about several projects • Scheduled contractor to have a ditch reshaped on Larkspur Av. • Scheduled the Gravel Resurfacing Project • Updated the City's culvert and driveway requirements Sewer: • Worked with EcoCheck on the Uptown and Bliss systems • Scheduled the septic and pump tank inspections for the 201 system with EcoCheck • Sent out inspection notice letters • Scheduled the replacement of the Bliss Drainfield transformer with Xcel • Worked on the 201 and Uptown budgets • Corresponded with engineer about the final improvements to the Uptown System Park and Recreation: • Reviewed Park and Recreation budget for 2014 • Met with several people about a proposed trail at Hay Lake Equipment and Building: • Researched jack hammers prices • Scheduled the bi-annual inspection of the ANSUL system in the Community Center kitchen • Met with electricians to supply power to the ANSUL system in the Community Center kitchen • Met with several roofing contractors about the Community Center roof • Scheduled the lift to be installed Miscellaneous: • Called in locates for several projects • Gathered information on surplus items to be sold • Met with Watershed to discuss several projects • Scheduled the final warning siren to be activated 2
