Re: Meister’s Authorization to Sell Beer at Taco Daze, September 10, 2016
Background:
State statute allows the City Council to authorize holders of a retail on-sale liquor license to sell
alcohol at a community festival or at any convention, banquet, conference, meeting or social
affair conducted on the premises of a sports, convention, or cultural facility owned by the City.
Issue:
Should the City Council authorize Meister’s to sell beer at Taco Daze?
Proposal Details:
Meister’s has applied for a temporary off-premises sales liquor license to sell beer at Taco Daze
on Saturday, September 10, 2016. Taco Daze is an event sponsored by the Scandia Marine
Lions and will be held on the community center grounds.
A map of the area is included in your packet. A beer tent will be set up near the cold storage
building from Noon to 6 p.m. on September 10.
Fiscal Impact:
$25 application fee has been paid.
Options:
1) Authorize Meister’s to sell beer at Taco Daze on September 10 at the Community Center
as described in the application received July 12, 2016.
2) Add conditions to approval.
3) Do not authorize Meister’s to sell at Taco Daze, September 10, 2016.
Recommendation:
Option 1.
