Issue: The City Council needs to determine the candidate to which an offer of employment will be made and the terms and conditions of employment that will be included in the offer. Proposal Details: Below is the wages scale for the Public Works Director position. Position Maint. Supt. (252) Grade 8 Start $28.09 $58,437 Step 1 $28.66 $59,606 Step 2 $29.23 $60,798 Step 3 $29.81 $62,014 Step 4 $30.41 $63,254 Step 5 $31.02 $64,519 Step 6 $31.64 $65,809 Step 7 $32.27 $67,126 Step 8 $32.92 $68,468 Step 9 $33.58 $69,837 Step 10 $34.25 $71,234 Step 11 $35.12 $73,046 Below is the Paid Time off schedule that is included in the City’s personnel handbook 1) Paid Time Off (PTO) (a) Paid Time Off shall accrue according to the following schedule for regular full- time employees: Completed Years of Employment PTO hours accrued per year PTO days (8 hr.) accrued per year 0 – 1 132 16.5 2 – 4 168 21 5 – 9 192 24 10 – 14 216 27 15+ 240 30 (b) The City Council may establish higher levels of annual leave accrual for an employee at the time of hiring if such authorization serves a public purpose. Such accruals shall never exceed the maximum allowed. Fiscal Impact: For preliminary budget discussions, the Step 3 has been used for the wages for the Public Works Director position. Options: 1. Appoint one of the 2 candidates identified for further investigation 2. Conduct investigations into backgrounds of other candidates 3. Renew the recruitment for the position. Recommendation: Option 1
