SCANDIA GOOD NEIGHBOR AWARD PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, respecting, caring for, and helping others is a hallmark of the
American character, and central to how we as a community live; and
WHEREAS, respect and care for and from neighbors creates a more sustainable,
resilient community and makes Scandia a great place to live and be; and
WHEREAS, Scandia throughout its history has been the beneficiary of being a
community of Good Neighbors; and
WHEREAS, Dale E. Hanka is recognized as a Good Neighbor in Scandia as he
built the Little Free Library that now resides at Lilleskogen Park; and
WHEREAS, Dale is a skilled hobbyist carpenter who has never seen a piece of
wood that he doesn’t need to save for a future project; and
WHEREAS, While he lives in Grand Rapids, MN, he has always been ready to
help his daughter and family in Marine on St Croix; and
WHEREAS, Dale has helped many, many family members and friends with
building projects over the years from houses, cabins and saunas to remodels and
doll house furniture!; and
WHEREAS, Dale Hanka, through his character and commitment to using his skills
for the benefit of others has clearly demonstrated the qualities of being a Good
Neighbor and has been nominated to receive this Award.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Scandia presents the Scandia
Good Neighbor Award to Dale E. Hanka in recognition and appreciation.
