Re: Closed POD Designations
Agenda Item#: 5.
Background:
In the event of a bio-agent incident or pandemic fly outbreak, mass clinics would be established
to distribute medication and vaccinations to the public. Mass clinics are typically set up within
24 hours. In addition to the mass clinic, closed point of distribution (POD) centers are utilized.
The closed PODs would allow critical employees to receive the vaccination/medication yuickly
so they can return to work. Washington County has contacted the fire chief and they need to
know who in the City would be placed on the list for the Closed PODs.
Issue:
Who should the city designate as eligible for a closed POD?
Proposal Details:
The Fire Chief recommends the following positions be placed on the list for the closed POD:
First wave: Fire Department, Public Works, City Council, Administrator
Second Wave: Deputy Clerk, Treasurer, Office Assistant
Fiscal Impact:
NA
Options:
1) Approve the above list for the closed POD
2) Amend and then approve a list for the closed POD
Recommendation:
Option 1.
