SCANDIA Staff Revort Date of Meeting: October 15, 2013 To: City Council From: Kristina Handt, City Administrator Re: Step Increase, Eklund Background: In July the City Council approved City of Scandia Compensation Policy(Resolution 07-16-13-03). Under the policy, each year on an employee's anniversary date following a satisfactory performance review and with approval by the City Council, the employee is eligible to receive a step increase. The resolution further stated that employees below the minimum step for their classification would be placed at that step after a satisfactory review. Eklund began employment with the City of Scandia on October 1, 2004. Issue: Should the City Council approve the step increase for Deputy Clerk Eklund? Proposal Details: On October 2, 2013 Deputy Clerk Eklund and I sat down for her annual review. A review of work completed over the past year as it relates to Eklund's job duties was discussed and goals were established for the coming year. I recommend Eklund's compensation be set at the grade minimum for Deputy Clerk, ($19.82/hr) beginning on her anniversary date. Options: 1) Approve the step increase effective October 1, 2013 2) Do not approve the step increase Recommendation: Option 1.
