5.f) Staff Report-Step Increase, Negus c� � � .�� 'l�. � SCANDIA Staff Renort Date of Meeting: October 15, 2013 To: City Council From: Kristina Handt, City Administrator Re: Step Increase,Negus Background: In July the City Council approved City of Scandia Compensation Policy(Resolution 07-16-13-03). Under the policy, each year on an employee's anniversary date following a satisfactory performance review and with approval by the City Council, the employee is eligible to receive a step increase. The resolution further stated that employees below the minimum step for their classification would be placed at that step after a satisfactory review. Negus began employment with the City of Scandia on October 22, 2012. Issue: Should the City Council approve the step increase for Office Assistant Negus? Proposal Details: On October 9, 2013 Office Assistant Negus and I sat down for her annual review. A review of work completed and goals accomplished over the past six months(time since last review)were discussed and goals were established for the coming year. I recommend Negus's compensation be set at the grade minimum for Office Assistant, ($15.47/hr) beginning on her anniversary date. Options: 1) Approve the step increase effective October 22, 2013 2) Do not approve the step increase Recommendation: Option 1.
