Staff Report

Re: Updated Job Descriptions
Background:
In July, the Council approved a new title of Public Works Director, formerly the Maintenance
Superintendent. No other duties or responsibilities were changed for the position. For
consistency, other jobs descriptions should be updated to reflect the change in title. Staff is
proposing to do this as positions are hired.
Also, the Ice Rink Maintenance Worker job description had the position reporting only to the
City Administrator and City Council. Given that it is a maintenance position for one of our
public facilities, staff is proposing the Public Works Director also be a direct report.
Issue:
Should the Job Descriptions for the Ice Rink Maintenance Worker and the Seasonal, On-Call
Snow Removal PT Maintenance Worker be updated to reflect they report to the Director of
Public Works?
Proposal Details:
Included in your packet are redlined versions of the proposed reporting changes for the two
positions. No other changes to duties, responsibilities or qualifications are proposed.
Fiscal Impact:
NA
Options:
1) Approve the proposed job description updates
2) Amend and then approve the new job descriptions
3) Do not adopt new job descriptions
Recommendation:
Option 1.
