06.h Staff Report-LC4YF raffle ticket sales Staff Report Date of Meeting: February 20, 2024 To: City Council From: Brenda Eklund, City Clerk Re: Lakes Center for Youth & Families Request for Raffle Ticket Sales Approval Background: Lakes Center for Youth and Families is planning a fund-raising event on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at The Scandia Creamery. The event will include the sale of raffle tickets with half of the gross proceeds being awarded to the winner and half to Lakes Center for Youth and Families. Issue: Should the Council provide local approval for the sale of raffle tickets for Lakes Center for Youth and Families’ fund-raising event on April 25, 2024? Proposal Details: Lakes Center for Youth and Families organization holds a lawful gambling license with the State of Minnesota and is required to apply for an off-site gambling permit with the State for their fundraising event at The Scandia Creamery. The LG230 Application to Conduct Off-Site Gambling must have local approval before the Gambling Control Board will process the application. The LG230 form is attached to this report. Fiscal Impact: None Options: 1) Approve the sale of raffle tickets for Lakes Center for Youth and Families for April 25, 2024 at The Scandia Creamery. 2) Do not approve the sale of raffle tickets. 3) Make no decision at this meeting. Recommendation: Option 1.
