Adjournment :,);„s; SCANDIA m i n n e s o t a City Advisory Committees Planning Commission The Planning Commission consists of five members appointed by the Council for staggered terms of five years, expiring on January 31 st of each year. The Commission reviews land development applications for conformance to the City's Comprehensive Plan and Development Code, and makes recommendations to the Council. They also participate in developing long- range plans, and in revising and updating the codes and ordinances governing land use in the city. The Planning Commission meets on the first Tuesday of each month. Park and Recreation Committee The Park and Recreation Advisory Committee consists of(up to) nine members appointed by the Council for staggered terms of five years, expiring on January 31st of each year. The committee advises the Council in all matters relating to park and recreation programs and facilities. Recent committee projects include an update to the Parks, Recreation, Trails, Open Space and Recreation Plan, and a master plan for Lions Park. The committee meets the first Monday of each month. Comprehensive Plan Committee All cities and towns in the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area are required to update their long-range comprehensive plans by the end of 2008. The plan will be important to setting the vision for the character of Scandia, looking forward to 2030. Elements of the plan will include growth management and land use,transportation,parks and open space,housing, utilities and water resources. The committee consists of Council members, all five Planning Commissioners and citizens at large. Appointments are for the duration of the project to update the plan (through 2008.) Commercial and Retail Development Committee This committee will advise the City Council on the need for commercial and retail development in Scandia. What type of development is needed and desired,how much is needed, and where it should be located are questions that will be addressed. The committee consists of council members, planning commissioners and citizens at large, serving 3-year terms. Capital Improvements Committee This committee will advise the city Council on the need for capital projects (such as road improvements,buildings and major equipment purchases.) The committee includes Council members, members of the Planning Commission and Parks Committee, citizens at large and key city staff. Members are appointed to 3-year terms. Updated March 13, 2007
