City Council Agenda Report
City of Scandia
14727 209' St. North
Scandia, MN 55073 (651) 433-2274
Action Requested: Consider re-advertising the position of Maintenance Superintendent.
Deadline/ Timeline: Advertise: February 15, 2012 through March 9, 2012
Review applications: week of March 12
Background: • In December, the city offered the position of Maintenance
Superintendent to Bradley LeTourneau. The appointment was
made after completion of required testing, and a start date of
January 23 was set. Shortly thereafter, Mr. LeTourneau requested
that his start date be delayed to February 13. On February 7, he
informed the city that he had decided to remain with his current
employer, the City of Blaine, where he has been offered a
promotion.
• Mr. LeToruneau was the second person to turn down the position,
which was originally offered to Daniel Peterson.
• Initial advertising for this job occurred from September 7 through
October 11, 2011.
Recommendation: There were 3 other interviewees for the position, and additional
applications on file that could be considered. However, it has been
almost 6 months since the initial advertisement, and it is likely that
there may be good candidates now available that were not available
last September. I recommend that the city advertise for approximately
3 weeks, and then consider new applications along with those already
on file.
