Alt 1(Add Tennis to existing City courts): $91,480.00
Alt 2(Barton Johnson Reconstruction): $120,000.00

5.)
Reject all bids
Any of these construction options will come with an additional Contingency and Engineering Cost which will be
different amounts depending on the option chosen by Council.
Wayne Erickson Ballfield:
Public Works staff have been working on improving the infield by removing the hump between the transition
of infield surface and the outfield turf surface. This portion of the project is nearly complete but has been
halted due to the recent rain events.
Staff are currently working on new anchors for the new bases which will be installed for three different
baseline lengths. Different base lengths are normally requested by renters of the field which as of recent years
has not been an option with the lack of additional anchor points. There is a total of 12 anchors required as first
base utilizes two anchor points for the double base.
Moving forward the bases will be stored in the shed when the field is not in use and will be set up by the
renters. A new lockable door handle has been installed on the shed and a key will be allowed to be signed out
from City Hall by the renter for access to the bases and hand tools, if needed, to smooth out the infield.
A portable toilet enclosure is currently under consideration to hide the portable toilets from the road and
neighbor to the south. The new company that bought out Airfresh will not travel over turf or soft ground to
service the toilets in the location previously used in the tree line. Public Works supports the transition to the
parking area as the past service trucks caused continual damage to the turf area between the parking lot and
tree line. The structure will be three sided and pinned to the ground but able to be moved, if necessary.
Where the toilets are currently placed is not where the final location will be. The location will be determined
after the enclosure is built for stability and leveling.
Tee Ball Field:
The tee ball infield will have a similar project completed as Wayne Erickson to remove the transitional hump
and the vegetation growing in the infield mix some time this year as staff become available.
Rink Advertisements:
Staff have been working to move the rink advertisements to the Wayne Erickson Ballfield fence, ending
permanent advertising at the rink. As of this year there is only one advertiser remaining with a balance of
advertisement fees at the rink. A letter has been sent to them giving the option to move to the ball field to
close out the balance.
Ending the advertisement at the rink is the most logical choice as the harsh climate and abuse the signs take at
the rink force the advertiser to purchase new signs more frequently at an additional cost above the
advertisement fee. This will also eliminate the need for additional holes to be drilled into the new boards
which reduces the integrity of the paneling.
If advertisers would like to hang an advertisement during the Vinterfest tournament, temporary vinyl signs
may be allowed and can be hung from the support wires at each end of the rink behind the glass, which has
been done at past tournaments.
