Re: Washington County Historical Society Temporary On-Sale Liquor License
Background:
In February 2024, Washington County Historical Society was approved for a Temporary On-
Sale Liquor License for a Beer Tasting fund-raising event to be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024
at the Hay Lake School Museum complex. The event was cancelled due to rain that day. WCHS
Director Brent Peterson has rescheduled the event to October 5, 2024.
Issue:
Should the Council approve a temporary liquor license for the Washington County Historical
Society for their re-scheduled Beer Tasting fund-raising event planned for October 5, 2024?
Proposal Details:
The Washington County Historical Society has submitted the required permit application and the
$50 fee has been transferred to the new application for this event. Under the City’s Code of
Ordinances, Chapter 110.17 (H), the Historical Society is eligible for a temporary license in
connection with a social event sponsored by a club, charitable, religious or other nonprofit
corporation that has existed for at least three years. The certificate of liquor liability will be
processed by the organization’s insurance agent, and will need to be received before the
application is sent to the State.
Fiscal Impact:
None
Options:
1) Approve the Temporary On-Sale Liquor License for the Washington County Historical
Society for October 5, 2024 at the Hay Lake School Museum on the condition that the
certificate of liquor liability is received.
2) Do not approve the request for a license.
3) Make no decision at this meeting.
Recommendation:
Option 1.
