5.a ADDITION_Public Comment_Amy GrahekFrom:Amy Grahek To:b.eklund Cc:Alana; Alana Sundberg Subject:Laurel Ridge Development on 205th Street Date:Tuesday, August 6, 2024 12:10:31 PM Dear Mayor Maefsky, Council Members, and Planning Commission Members, We thank you for acknowledging the concerns of the Scandia community with regard to the Laurel Ridge Development. Many local residents have shared their concerns with the council members and we trust that you all are listening to the very people you have been elected to serve. We do NOT want several houses, driveways, traffic, and construction disturbing our road and neighborhood. We do NOT want the quiet Sand Lake Trail housing more traffic because it is dangerous to those that bicycle, walk, rollerblade, and recreate on this scenic roadway. The owner of the land and the developers do NOT care about the residence who live here. They want to build as many houses as possible and make as much money as possible, then they will fold up their clip boards and leave. We will be left with the ramifications. We do not need to please this developer! More people equal more problems. Multiple houses will NOT benefit our neighborhood nor is it what anyone in the area wants for our future. We all moved here for land, peace and quiet, and to get away from busy neighborhoods and dangerous traffic. I would propose a MAXIMUM of 4 houses on this property. As an example, my parents live in the Pine County area and their township (Royalton Township) has a minimum of 10 acres for new housing. It really eliminates problems for the township and the city when residents have their space. Once you allow the crowding we will not be able to turn back. Please keep Scandia peaceful and beautiful. You will NOT have my vote if our voices are not being heard. Yours Sincerely, ~ Adam and Amy Grahek - Residents of 205th Street PS Please let me know that this letter was read and received.
