Re: Parks update
Public Works Director — Adam Hawkinson will be starting as Public Works Director on December 12.
Adam has been the Grounds Supervisor at Ecumen / Parmly since February. Prior to that he was the
Grounds Support Supervisor at the University of MN for 9 years, Park Superintendent in Monticello for 4
years, and various Public works position in Minnetonka for 14 years.
Lilleskogen —The Veterans Committee has installed the flag pole at the park. Memorial construction has
been deferred until 2017. There was no availability for the Washington County Sentence to Service
program this year but a proposal for 2 days of clearing in 2017 has been submitted.
Wind in the Pines — A proposal has been submitted to Washington County Sentence to Service program
for 2 days of invasive species clearing in 2017.
Ice Rink—The work on replacing broken dasher boards and kick plates has been completed. The warming
house has been prepped for the skating season. The Zamboni has been taken to the garage to be serviced
for the upcoming season.
2017 Budget — The City Council will hold a Public Hearing on the 2017 budget on Wednesday, December 7
and will take action on the budget at the Council meeting on 12/20/16.
City 2040 Comprehensive Plan —The City will be working with Bolton Menk on the update to the
comprehensive plan. The consultants have recommended that a 10-12 person Steering Committee be
established to have a series of 3 higher level meeting on the plan. At composition of the Committee will
be determined at the January Council meeting and could include a member of the PRC. Applications for
citizen positions will also be solicited.
