Subject: Carrie Mitchell’s Concerns about the Building Official
Background:
Carrie Mitchell, 14192 209th St N, has asked to address the Council regarding the letter and report
she distributed at the September 17, 2024 Council meeting. I have attached the letter and report for
your review. As the letter states, she has concerns over the actions of the Building Official, who
works for the City on contract and is an employee of the City of Hugo. After the September
meeting, at our City Attorney's recommendation, I forwarded Carrie’s letter to the City’s insurance
carrier. They have opened a claim and are in contact with Carrie.
Carrie wishes to address the Council to know what the City is doing about this issue. I told her the
City is not doing anything at this time because the Council has not been made aware of the issue and
has not directed staff to take action.
