SCANDIA GOOD NEIGHBOR AWARD PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, respecting, caring for, and helping others is a hallmark of the American character,
and central to how we as a community live; and
WHEREAS, respect and care for and from neighbors creates a more sustainable, resilient
community and makes Scandia a great place to live and be; and
WHEREAS, Scandia throughout its history has been the beneficiary of being a community of
Good Neighbors; and
WHEREAS, Shaun Holtgreve is recognized as a Good Neighbor through his unwavering
commitment and contributions to both Scandia and the wider community; and
WHEREAS, as a Captain & EMT in Scandia Fire & Rescue he is always ready to help anyone in
need; and
WHEREAS, as a Cordon Bleu Chef he assists in making food for the Fire Department and helps
the Scandia/Marine Lions in any way he can ; and
WHEREAS, with the disastrous nature of Hurricane Helene Shaun was reminded of his own
family’s terrible experience when they were living in Louisiana during Hurricane Katrina and they
lost everything they had, prompting them to move to Minnesota; and
WHEREAS, recently with Hurricane Helene and the destruction it has caused in North Carolina
Shaun knew what these people were experiencing so he and his 18 year old son, Jackson,
packed up their van with supplies and tools and left on October 4 to help the victims of this
horrific Hurricane; and
WHEREAS, they will be there representing Minnesota helping with cooking food to give out to
those in need, helping rebuild lost structures and generally assisting in any way they can; and
WHEREAS, Shaun’s selection as a Good Neighbor is not only deserved but also serves as an
inspiration to others in our community and beyond.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Scandia presents the Scandia Good Neighbor
Award to Shaun Holtgreve in recognition and appreciation.
