Midco Awarded Grant to Bring Broadband to Scandia
October 16, 2024 – Scandia, Minn:
Midco is bringing high-speed and reliable broadband to more Minnesotans.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz recently announced that Midco has been awarded a
$689,700 grant from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic
Development (DEED) through the Office of Broadband Development’s Border-to-Border
Broadband Program to bring high-speed and reliable broadband to unserved and
underserved areas of Washington County.
This grant will cover 50% of the more than $1.37 million total project cost to improve
connectivity to more than 160 homes, businesses and farms in the Scandia area.
Midco has been proud to partner with the City of Scandia over the last four years to
diligently work towards bringing best-in-class broadband services to this community.
“With unwavering local support, we have been a committed partner alongside the State
of Minnesota as we have been awarded multiple Border-to-Border grants and Line
Extension grants in the area. The Round 10 Border-to-Border Grant will bring us one
step closer to reaching more residents of Scandia with reliable broadband,” said Elly

Scandia City Administrator Kyle Morrell said, “The City of Scandia and its Internet
Action Committee were happy to work with Midco on the grant application and are
thrilled to bring internet services to the unserved area along the river.”
