Re: Committee/Commission Appointments
In December, the City solicited applications for expiring and vacant terms on the Planning
Commission, Wastewater Advisory Committee, and Tourism Committee.
The election of Council member Kirsten Libby has left one vacancy for a 5-year term on the
Planning Commission.
The election of Council member Jim Gribble has left vacancies on the Tourism Committee and
the Wastewater Committee for members-at-large. The Tourism Committee currently has four
members and is looking to expand to seven members. There are no term limits for members of
this committee.
No applications were received for Peter Nora’s expiring term on the Wastewater Advisory
Committee nor the vacancy left by the election of Council member Jim Gribble (term expires
1/31/2027); however, Mr. Nora agreed to serve another term if there were no applicants.
The following applicants for the Planning Commission were interviewed by the City Council at
their Work Session on January 16, 2025.
• Planning Commission: Theresa Decker, Carrie Mitchell, Renee Lee, Mary Cullen
• Tourism Committee applicants Adam Schauls and Sandra Whitney were not present.
Staff has reached out to both to see if they are still interested. No response was
received by the time of this report. A verbal report will be given at the meeting.
The Council may choose to vote on the following:
1) Move to appoint one of the applicants to the Planning Commission to serve a five-year
term expiring on January 31, 2030.
2) Move to make appointments to the Tourism Committee.
3) Move to re-appoint Peter Nora to the Wastewater Advisory Committee to serve a five-
year term expiring on January 31, 2030, and continue to solicit applications for the
vacancy with a term expiring on January 31, 2027.
