Re: Designate Acting Mayor
Background:
State Statute requires the Council to elect an acting Mayor at the annual meeting (first regular
meeting of the year). The acting mayor is elected among the council members and performs the
duties of the mayor during the mayor’s disability or absence from the city, or, if there is a
vacancy, until a successor has been appointed. The Acting Mayor also serves as an authorized
signer with banking institutions.
Issue:
Who does the Council elect as the Acting Mayor for 2025?
Proposal Details:
Council members may choose any one member except the Mayor.
