Minutes of March 6, 2024, EDA MeetingPage 1 of 2 Scandia Economic Development Authority 14727 209 th St. N., Scandia, Minnesota 55073 Phone: (651) 433-2274 | Fax: (651) 433-5112 |Web: www.visitscandia.com City of Scandia Economic Development Authority Board of Commissioners Meeting Minutes Wednesday, March 6, 2024 Attendance: Mayor Christine Maefsky, Council members Heather Benson, Jerry Cusick, Steve Kronmiller, Mike Lubke Also in Attendance: Executive Director Kyle Morell, City Administrator; Brenda Eklund, City Clerk Call to Order: Executive Director Morell called the meeting to order at 7:33 p.m. Approval of Agenda: Motion by Benson, seconded by Lubke, to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried unanimously. Approval of Minutes: February 13, 2023 meeting minutes. Motion by Benson, seconded by Lubke, to approve the minutes. Motion carried unanimously. General Business: a) Approve By-Laws The City Council reviewed revised EDA bylaws at their June 7, 2023 Work Session and agreed to meet in 2024 as the EDA to approve the new bylaws. Motion by Kronmiller, seconded by Benson, to approve the EDA bylaws as presented. Motion carried unanimously. b) Elect Officers Motion by Kronmiller, seconded by Benson, to nominate Mayor Maefsky as President of the EDA. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Benson, seconded by Maefsky, to nominate Council member Lubke as Vice-President of the EDA. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Kronmiller, seconded by Benson, to nominate City Administrator Morell as Treasurer of the EDA. Motion carried unanimously. c) Close EDA Checking Account The EDA has had a separate checking account since 2014. City Treasurer Firkus recommends the separate EDA bank account be closed for more efficient record keeping. EDA expenditures and revenues will continue to be tracked in their 225 funds in the main cash account. Morell explained that the Council now has authority to decide to close the EDA checking account. Motion by Kronmiller, seconded by Benson, to close the EDA checking account. Motion carried unanimously. Next EDA Board Meeting Date: The EDA bylaws state an annual meeting will be held each year in January or as needed with a special meeting. Motion by Maefsky, seconded by Kronmiller, to meet in January 2025 or as needed with a special meeting. Motion by Kronmiller, seconded by Benson, to adjourn. Motion carried unanimously.
