Motion carried unanimously.
Business Breakfast Planning (April 9, 2025) – Dickens invited Mayor Kronmiller to present the
history and potential future of the EDA and relationship with the Tourism Committee. Kronmiller
requested the Tourism Committee continue to host the next Business Breakfast with the intent to give
all local business, including home based businesses, the opportunity to inform Scandia of suggestions
or requests to provide support for their businesses to grow via a short survey. Dickens will reach out
to Rhonda at the Scandia Creamery for catering the breakfast (or Ozark or Meisters if necessary) and
prepare a “Save the Date” message for staff to publish. More specific details will be published via
Press Releases, the EDA Breakfast email list, Scandia’s printed newsletter, and official sources of
Scandia’s social media after further discussion and planning. Kronmiller will be the guest speaker.
Kronmiller also suggests the city provide an update of local businesses, including the services they
provide and ways the city could use to connect sellers with buyers. Dickens to provide a Save the
Date announcement for social media.
Collaborate with Marine Event – Lee reported reaching out to the Marine fall event organizers and
is waiting for a response. Further discussion included clarifying the request of sharing a trolly between
Scandia and Marine and contacting the Marine Folk School directly. Kronmiller suggested considering
“Farmers Market” style structure with booths in the Community Center parking lot for businesses to
staff if there is only one or two safe Trolly Stop locations in Scandia. This would also allow homebased
businesses an opportunity to participate. Moratzka volunteered to reserve one date of the Community
Table at the Scandia Farmers Market for an in person promotional opportunity.
Community Wide Garage Sale Planning – staff confirmed the dates as the weekend following
Memorial Day, May 29-31, 2005 with a registration of sellers’ deadline of May 2nd to publish the map
by May 16th. Discussion considered other mapping options to provide printable maps with more
descriptions useful to shoppers in addition to the map being interactive online. Larsen will investigate
the map program by a community example from a sale she attended last year in Wisconsin. Kronmiller
suggested free options with online sources of mapping and will follow up with staff. Dickens to
provide a Save the Date announcement for social media.
