09.e1 Cold Storage Deconstuction Report Cold Storage Removal Date of Meeting: 3/18/2025 For: Mayor and City Council From: Charles Fischer – Director of Public Works / Mike Hinz – Fire Chief Subject: Old Storage Building Removal Action Requested: Consent the removal of the old Cold Storage building located on the City Hall/Community Center site. Background: Public Works and the Fire Department were approved to construct a new storage building behind the current Public Works/Fire Hall building. Currently the new building has been constructed but are now waiting to complete the concrete floor and electric service later in the spring after frost out underneath the building. The City Council approved the new building with the condition the old Cold Storage building be removed. Public Works solicited for quotes for the removal of the building and five interested parties submitted proposals. Proposal Comparison/Options: 1.) JTC LLC. Proposed charging the City $37,655.00 to deconstruct the building and move off site. 2.) Big Wolf LLC. Proposed charging the City $21,000.00 to demolish and haul away the building. 3.) Rachel LLC. Proposed charging the City $12,600.00 to demolish and haul away the building. 4.) Mash LLC. Proposed charging the City $9,247.00 to demolish and haul away the building. 5.) Helke proposed paying the City $10,500.00 to deconstruct the building and move off site. Recommendation: Option 5. Public Works recommends consenting the removal of the building to Helke whom will pay the City $10,500 for the building. Fiscal Impact: If Council selects Helke’s Proposal the funds received have the potential to be used for the disconnection of the gas and electric services to the building and install an RV type power post with receptacles .
