3. 03.25.2025 Minutes TC DRAFTScandia Tourism Committee, Community Center Hall March 25, 2025 Members in Attendance: Sue Dickens, Renee Lee, Lynne Moratzka and Sarah Porubcansky. Absent: Jaimin Brown. Additional Attendees: Jim Gribble (Council Representative) and Brenda "Bee" Stignani (Office Assistant). Call to Order —Chair Dickens called the meeting to order at 4:04 p.m., a quorum is present. Approve the Agenda — Dickens moved, Porubcansky seconded, to approve the agenda with Flexibility. Motion carried unanimously. Approve the Minutes — Porubcansky moved, Moratzka seconded, to approve February 25, 2025 minutes. Motion carried unanimously. Business Breakfast Planning (April 9, 2025) — Dickens reported Kronmiller is not able to attend after all, and will name a replacement for presenting in his place. Dickens contacted the Creamery, and is waiting for a final decision if they can provide the breakfast. Dickens felt it was unlikely, and will contact Ozark Tavern next, Meisters, and then Scandia Cafe. A gluten free option will be added, and plan for 25 attendees. Staff will keep Dickens informed of the number of RSVP and invite the principal of Scandia Elementary School if she has not already been included in the email invitation. Lee and Moratzka will create the short survey for all attendees and Moratzka will handle introductions at the event. Collaborate with Marine Event — Lee reported sending more messages to the Marine Folk School, and will now be able to follow up more intentionally, and Porubcansky suggested phone calls over emails. Nothing new to report. Community Wide Garage Sale Planning — Dickens reported the official resignation of Chrissi Lason, the new appointment of Jaimin Brown, and requested Stignani read the final update email from Larson regarding the Community Wide Garage Sale map. I wasn't able to get in touch with anyone from the community that I've referenced. I also did poke around to see what else is out there and primarily was finding apes in my search. They don't look like they'd realjbe providing anything to ground breaking. My assumption is that to create a more robust map, it would require some graphic design help. Stignani reported meeting with Kronmiller to see options by Google Maps. Porubcansky suggested that her volunteer is able to do anything, we just need to be specific with the request of what the printable map will look like and what will be included. Staff with work out the specific details with Porubcansky and open the registration as soon as possible. Scandia Heritage Alliance June Event — Moratzka provided the history fast -pitch softball in and around Scandia, and events being planned June 25`''-28`''. On behalf of SHA, Moratzka requested volunteers from the Tourism Committee to facilitate activities during the tournament on June 27"' & 28`' and support by passing out programs or other needed tasks. Dickens, Lee, and Porubcansky volunteered. Further discussion concluded the need for a button to identify members of the Tourism Committee. Dickens to bring back future options to consider. Dickens volunteered also to support SHA with social media outreach. Flexibility - Moratzka announced she had Sister City posters to distribute for the 3rd Anniversary of the signing event with Mellerud. And Elim Church is hosting the Elim Creativity Gallery 2025 on May 18`''- 26`" as they have done in the past. Residents are invited to display 3 items in any medium Scandia Tourism Committee Minutes March 25, 2025 to be displayed. Moratzka confirmed there are no awards or competition, this is just a display where the public is invited to participate as contributors and attendees. Adjournment —Motion by Dickens seconded by Moratzka, to adjourn the meeting Motion carried unanimously.
