minutes. Motion carried unanimously.
Flexibility – Morell provided an update after the first EDA meeting with the newly appointed
members. EDA intends to set goals, focusing on business support and housing. Morell suggests
scheduling a joint meeting in July to clarify which projects EDA or Tourism will take on, while
collaborating and supporting the efforts of the other as appropriate. EDA discussed signage and
concluding the City Center Study as a step for the required Signage Master Plan required by the state.
Morell recommends Tourism prepare a 2026 budget request to include expansion of reasonable
projects instead of being a line item of the EDA budget. Porubcansky requested revisiting suggestions
to incorporate a wayfinding sign/mural on the side of the old Scandia Mercantile building and moving
the Settler’s Monument near Hay Lake Park. Further discussion included exploring options of
improving Scandia’s social media presence and communication to ensure what is pushed out
represents the community and not the committees.
Update List of 2025 Community Events – Dickens requested committee members review the 2025
Scandia event document to identify missing events which are open to the public, regardless of which
organization is sponsoring the event. Porubcansky suggested in cluding Cinnamon Bun Day on the
1st Thursday in October and will contact Karen Schik for Scandia Parks and Trails public events.
Business Breakfasts – Next Date – Dickens requested feedback from Mayor Kronmiller for the
next date to schedule, and is waiting for direction. The April event was well attended, with frank
conversations and leads for companies interested in actively supporting Scandia events. Attendees
requested copies of the minutes taken by Dickens which will go out with a link to a revised survey.
The survey prepared by Lee and Moratzka was not distributed as additional questions will be added.
Community Wide Garage Sale Planning – Staff reported 5 registrations and a plan to post on social
media on Thursday and Monday for the following Fr iday registration deadline (May 2nd.) Dickens

contacts she uses for event notification.
