There is a proposal to change the Exterior Storage Ordinance. The current ordinance calls for
storage of boats, docks and boat lifts can be stored on parcels from between September 15 and May
30th.
The dates were removed from the new proposed Exterior Storage Ordinance.
I believe it should be added back into the ordinance to say docks and boat lifts (not necessarily boats)
may be stored on parcels from September through May. Some residents who mostly have seasonal
properties indicated that they sometimes don’t put docks and boat lifts in until Memorial Day and then
take them out on Labor Day weekends.
I feel strongly that the dates need to be added in for docks and boat lifts because I have a neighbor
who has at least three boat lifts that have never seen the water in at least the last seven years. The
lifts are in a location that everyone sees when they drive down the road and a neighbor has had to
look at them when looking out towards the road and lake. I have attached a picture where two of the
boat lifts are shown (there are more elsewhere on the property).
I also understand that some property owners may have a year where they cannot put in their dock or
lift due to health concerns, etc. and I believe most people would think those situations are fine.
Thank you for your consideration in adding the dates back in for docks and boat lifts so that property
is not being used as a “storage facility”.
I wish to remain anonymous due to fear of retaliation from the Rienhardts.
Thank you

Subject:May 20th City Council meeting
Dear Mayor and City Council members,
I do not believe changing the City Ordinance regarding storage on Lakeshore properties i.e. of additional
vehicles and RV's is in the best interest of the community.
Big Marine Lake property owners and partners as well as CMSCWD, City, County, State, and Federal
Agencies all spend significant money to protect and improve our beautiful lake. The additional
impervious surfaces and rapid runoff of potentially tainted water from these vehicles being stored this
close to the lake will no doubt have a negative impact on the scenic beauty of the area as well as the
lake's water quality.
Thanks for listening and Please Protect Big Marine Lake, Jeff Dahlberg
