What Does
This Mean?
We worked with the contractor to identify cost-saving measures and phasing options in
order to initiate construction this fall
•Planning community planting and bench-building events to reduce landscaping costs
•Changing parking lot from bituminous to gravel
•Moving tiered amphitheater seating and wetland overlook decks to Phase 2 project
(unless funds are raised before spring 2026)
•Proscenium Stage at the amphitheater is a Phase 3 Project
(was never been in scope for Phase 1)

Request
to City
Council
The Watershed District has indicated they will
consider a waiver request for the Watershed permit –site
includes a rain garden and stormwater pond.
SHA would like to ask if the City will consider making this
request to the Watershed District for the project. The request
needs to come from the City.

WATER TOWER BARN SCANDIA is a project of Scandia Heritage Alliance, a 501c3
charitable organization, in coordination with the City of Scandia. Join us in our mission
to preserve and celebrate Scandia’s rich history, heritage, arts and rural character.
The Minnesota Legislature dedicated $2.2 million in 2023 for WATER TOWER
BARN SCANDIA –a Challenge Grant that requires Scandia Heritage Alliance
to raise the remaining funds needed to build the project.
We invite you to partner in rebuilding the iconic Water Tower Barn and
create a special space in Scandia to explore, gather, and play. Your
significant contribution will leave a legacy for our children and grandchildren
to enjoy for decades to come.
