Dear Mayor Steve Kronmiller, Member Cusick, Member Gribble, Member
Libby, and Member Lubke.
I had the pleasure of attending the Annual Anniversary Celebration event at
the Scandia Community Center recently.
It was fun to attend and experience how the important connection continues
between Scandia Elementary and the City of Scandia through this celebration
event. The Sister City Celebration not only builds community among our
families at Scandia Elementary but brings a rich history lesson that they get to
participate in right down the road!
Building a relationship between the heritage that surrounds them in Scandia
creates a sense of pride and understanding that they can convey to their
family, friends and neighbors.
For our Scandia Elementary students that see the Dala Horse outside their
school building they will now realize that it holds a special meaning, one that
represents to them that a bigger world exists. Getting to hear the voices of the
Swedish Sister City members and for them to hear our Scandia Elementary
third graders sing is an opportunity that is both unique and extraordinary.
In closing, I sincerely ask that you consider waiving the fees for the
Community Center usage, ensuring that the The Sister City Celebration event
can continue to take place and impact our school and community in a
positive and beneficial way.
