Minutes of July 22, 2025, EDA MeetingCity of Scandia Economic Development Authority Board of Commissioners Meeting Minutes Tuesday, July 22, 2025 Attendance: Council members Steve Kronmiller and Jim Gribble. Also in Attendance: Executive Director Kyle Morell Residents in Attendance: Carolyn Smith, Patricia Lange, Jacqueline Chaves, Dave Wilske, Patrick Doyle, Call to Order: President Kronmiller called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Approval of Agenda: Motion by Wilske, seconded by Lange, to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried unanimously. Approval of Minutes: Minutes of the June 24, 2025, EDA meeting were not available. Welcome Letter EDA President Kronmiller collaborated with Treasurer Korby on identifying new residents for the community. Kronmiller is confident the EDA can identify new residents to send welcome letters to. Part of that letter was the introduction of local businesses to the residents. Staff will work to create a sample welcome letter and business questionnaire for review at the next meeting. Scandia City Center Study and Wayfinding The Board asked staff to find out how long the Master Plan is good for, and how the City can go about updating the plan with MnDOT if needed in the future. Staff will attempt to map out all future sign locations and bring them back at a later meeting. Staff informed the Board that the Council is considering changes to its sign ordinance, including the allowance of dynamic display signs. Input from the EDA included limiting the brightness and duration that a sign can be shown. Limit the size of the display sign, and the location within the City where these signs are allowed. They also suggested prohibiting video from being displayed. Sale of City Merchandise The Board suggested trademarking the City’s logo. Staff will look into this and report back. Staff will also look into identifying apparel that will be sold. This item will be brought back at a later meeting. Next meeting has been scheduled: Tuesday, August 26, at 6:30 PM Motion to adjourn made by Wilske and seconded by Lange. Motion carried unanimously.
