05. Letters of Support Staff Report
Date of Meeting: October 1, 2025
For: Honorable Mayor and Council
From: Kyle Morell, City Administrator
Subject: Letters of Support
The City received a request for a letter of support from the Scandia Heritage Alliance for their
attempt to bring the Levitt AMP Music Series to Scandia.
The second letter is from the Internet Action Committee to approximately 35 residents in the
community who, based on our records, do not have access to high-speed internet for a variety of
reasons. The Committee would like to send letters to these residents offering the City’s assistance in
working with Midco or the State of Minnesota to apply for high-speed internet service.

Letter to the Levitt Foundation, re Levitt AMP Music Series
Letter from IAC to Residents, re High-Speed Internet Access
October 1, 2025
Dear Members of the Levitt Foundation,
The Scandia City Council would like to express enthusiastic support for Scandia Heritage Alliance’s
proposal to bring a Levitt AMP Music Series to our community.
Scandia is a small town with deep cultural roots, but relatively little access to arts and music — especially
free performances. Each year, our community comes together for events like Spelmansstämman (a fiddle
festival) and Vinterfest, which celebrate tradition while fostering connection across generations. The Levitt
AMP Music Series would build on this foundation, elevating Scandia’s community spirit with professional
concerts that are free, family-friendly, and accessible to all.
The public voting process has already given us a glimpse into the ways a music series could bring our
community together. During the vote we saw residents, downtown businesses, and city staff rallying
friends, customers, and citizens to vote. Scandia Heritage Alliance drew new interest from potential
volunteers and musicians interested in being part of the series.
We see these initial sparks growing if Scandia wins the grant. The proposed series would benefit the
community in tangible ways:
Presenting a wide range of professional music genres, offering something for everyone, and
bringing diverse groups together.
Activating an under-used public space in a way that is welcoming and accessible.
Providing opportunities for local businesses and civic groups to engage, strengthening the
fabric of our town.
Offering young people and families enriching cultural experiences, enhancing Scandia’s
quality of life.
We see firsthand how vital shared connections are to the health of our community. A Levitt AMP Music
Series would bring people together while celebrating local talent and increasing community pride. The
City of Scandia stands firmly behind this project, and we are committed to supporting its success.
Sincerely,

Dear Resident,
Since 2020, the City of Scandia has partnered with the Minnesota Department of Employment
and Economic Development, Washington County, and Midco to expand high-speed internet
within the Community. This partnership has enabled high-speed internet access for over 95% of
the parcels in Scandia. Our records indicate that you are one of the small percentage of parcels
that do not have access to high-speed internet.
We are reaching out to see if you or someone in your household would like assistance with
geƫng connected to high-speed internet. Whether you need help finding a provider or applying
for available state programs, we can support you through the process.
If you're interested in receiving assistance from the Scandia IAC or simply learning more about
your opƟons, please let us know by:
Calling us at 651.433.2274
Emailing us at k.morell@ci.scandia.mn.us
Our goal is to ensure that everyone in Scandia has the necessary tools to stay connected and
thrive.
Sincerely,
Kyle H. Morell
