Re: Donation from Scandia Relief Association
Background:
The Scandia Firefighters Relief Association uses funds raised to benefit the members of the City of
Scandia fire department. The members of the association decided that the department was in need of
a Honda 2000 watt portable generator for the new fire engine. This new fire engine doesn’t have a
permanently mounted generator like the old truck had. This truck uses an inverter on the truck, but
this means that there is not a cord reel for use with lights and other items as we had in the past. We
feel battery powered items are a great option, but we feel the need to have a secondary power option
since we work in uncertain conditions.
Issue:
Should the Council accept the donation of $1,056.39 for the purchase of a Honda generator from
the firefighter’s relief association?
Proposal Details:
Accept the donation from the relief association for $1,056.39. The generator has already been
purchased as there was a need.
Fiscal Impact:
The only impact if approved would be to adjust the #240 line item to reflect the additional
income. If not approved the budget will possible be under funded
Options:
1) Accept the donation from the Relief Association.
2) Do not accept the donation.
Recommendation:
Option 1.
CITY OF SCANDIA
RESOLUTION NO. 11-18-25-01
ACCEPTING DONATION FROM THE SCANDIA FIRE RELIEF ASSOCIATION
TOWARDS PURCHASE OF GENERATOR AND AMEND 2025 CITY BUDGET
WHEREAS, the Scandia Fire Relief Association generously supports Scandia Fire and
Rescue efforts with purchases of equipment through fundraisers; and
WHEREAS, the Scandia Fire Relief Association has made a cash donation of $1,056.39
towards the purchase of an essential portable generator for Engine #1; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SCANDIA, WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA: That it should
and hereby does accept the donation of $1,056.39 from the Scandia Fire Relief Association
towards the purchase of a portable generator; and
AMEND THE 2025 BUDGET AS FOLLOWS:
Scandia Fire Relief Donation 101-41000-36230 Donations + $1,056.39
Fire Department Equipment 101-42200-240 Small Tools
& Minor Equipment + $1,056.39
FURTHER, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council extends its thanks to the Scandia
Fire Relief Association on behalf of all of the citizens of Scandia, for all of their generous
donations to our community.
Adopted by the Scandia City Council this 18th day of November, 2025.
