10.e Public Works-Staff Report Staff Report Date of Meeting: 11/18/2025 For: Mayor and City Council From: Charles Fischer – Director of Public Works Subject: PW - Staff Report Roads/ ROW Ditch mowing: Staff have moved into the southwestern section and near complete south or HWY 97. The final area remaining for the season is the Northwestern quarter which runs north of HWY 97 and west of Olinda Trail. Dead, dying or hazardous trees are continuing to be removed throughout the City. After high wind events this season more trees are leaning over roadways and have become a safety hazard. Tree trimming will begin once the ditch mowing is complete. Staff have completed necessary equipment conversions for the winter snow and ice control season. Over the course of the summer and fall the street light poles in the village center have been converted to LED bulbs. The conversion will help safe on energy costs but also replacement cost for when a light fails. Public Works staff will be able to perform bulb replacements where in the past failures of the original components involved replacement of the ballast which an electrician was required to replace. The winter snowflakes on all the street light poles have been installed. Parks Staff have been preparing the necessary items for the ice rink season. All we need now is cold weather and frost to drive at least 4-6 inches and be consistent at the surface before flooding begins. Sewer Tank pumping is near complete. Only a few tanks remain, and have not been pumped, due to residents covering the tanks with seasonally stored items such as; docks, boats, or canoes. We are working to directly contact residents to move these items before staff are required to move them so the tanks can be serviced. Two properties in the A/E system will have new risers and manhole covers installed this fall. A new pump is being installed in the A/E lift station. The previous pump developed a seal leak and water infiltrated the motor section of the pump corroding the windings. After installing the new pump the VFD control went out and is now being replaced as well. Lights and outlets have been installed in the new cold storage building.
