2019 EDA Work Plan
Executive Director Morell presented a Work Plan that compiled the completed work plan from
2019 and the documents presented by Tourism Chair Dickens and EDA President Kronmiller at
the joint meeting. The presented document included draft work plans for 2026 for the EDA and
Tourism. Some items on the plan have been completed, while others need updating. The Board
discussed how best to combine the presented goals and measures into a more concise document.
Staff will complete the suggested changes and present the Work Plan in November for further
review.
Sale of City Merchandise
The next steps will be to set up the online shops and order merchandise that can be displayed at
the Business Expo in the spring, so that any local business interested in selling our merchandise
can view what is available. The city will work to inform all who wish to purchase city
merchandise that proceeds from the sales will be reinvested in the community.
Create an agreement with the Vendors, so they can sell only to local Scandia businesses and not
individuals or outside businesses. Create an agreement with businesses, so that a percentage or
flat rate of each sale goes to the Scandia EDA with no mark-up on purchase of product from
vendor. Make it relatable to what they are raising money for: Parks and rec, Tourism, educational
opportunities, etc. Check with vendors, Scratch that Etch and AP to see what they think would be
acceptable.
Business Questionnaire Follow-Up
EDA members to reach out to remaining businesses that have not yet completed the
questionnaire to confirm status and business information. A script was provided and a list of the
businesses who have not responded. Member will update survey based on comments and return
the completed list to Treasurer, Veronica Korby.
Items for future discussions: Gribble suggested a discussion about housing and how this group
can help make land/houses more attainable for buyers. Staff also presented a flyer from the
Forest Lake Business Expo as an example of what the EDA could host in the spring of 2026.
Next meeting has been scheduled: Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 6:30 PM
Motion to adjourn made at 8:11 p.m. by Smith and seconded by Gribble. Motion carried
unanimously.
Respectfully submitted by:
Kyle Morell, EDA Executive Director
