Scandia Tourism Committee, Community Center Hall November 25, 2025
Members in Attendance: Jaimin Brown, Sue Dickens, Lynne Moratzka, and Renee Lee. Absent:
Sarah Porubcansky. Additional Attendees: Jim Gribble (Council Representative), Kyle Morell (City
Administrator), and Veronica Korby (City Treasurer).
Call to Order –Chair Dickens called the meeting to order at 4:09 p.m. A quorum is present.
Approve the Agenda Dickens moved, Brown seconded, to approve the agenda with
Flexibility. Motion carried unanimously.
Approve the Minutes Dickens moved, Moratzka seconded, to approve the September 23, 2025,
Tourism Meeting and Joint Tourism/EDA meeting minutes. Motion carried unanimously.
Scandia Evening Adventures
October turnout was disappointing. One business chose not to participate in November. November
turnout was good. Multiple businesses stated it was the best months turnout for this event. It was
suggested to start event earlier in the evening due to suns et occurring earlier after daylight savings
time.
VinterLights! Planning
Sunday weather may not be favorable and cause outdoor activities to be scaled back. Dickens will
confirm table reservations before the event. Tables and chairs have been put out. Set-up will continue
on Saturday, for the Sunday event. Doors open at 10:30 am for setup, event starts at noon. Tickets
will be collected every half hour for drawings. Tree lighting is at 5 p.m. Dickens organized advertising
in local publications. Committee members were asked to share copies of event publications on their
personal social media pages. Committee will follow-up with vendors to gauge success of the event.
December Tourism Committee Meeting Date Discussion
Meeting is currently scheduled for Tuesday, December 23, 2025. Thursday, December 18, 2025, at
4:00 p.m. was selected as the alternative date. The City will send a notice of the new date.
Joint EDA & Tourism Committee Meeting Discussion
Staff presented a Draft Tourism Work Plan to be discussed at the December meeting in preparation
for 2026. Dickens will share her priorities for the January meeting discussion on the work plan with
the Committee in advance.
Adjournment – Motion by Moratzka, seconded by Brown, to adjourn the meeting Motion
carried unanimously.
