Re: Fire Ball Liquor License
Background:
The Scandia Relief association is planning to hold our annual Fire Ball this year on February
28th 2026. We require a temporary liquor license as we will be selling alcohol during our event to
assist in raising funds. The relief association will be purchasing liability insurance for this event. The
relief association is also requesting you to waive the license fee and building rental fees as you have
done in the past.
This is the only fund raiser the relief association has each year. The funds from this event are
used to purchase items for the fire department members and equipment for the city to use for the fire
department. Some examples are the new battery scene light, a portion of the SCBA air pack, multi
tool for turnout gear, equipment to outfit the new boat, firefighter memorial and many other items
over the years.
Staff Recommendation:
Staff recommends approving the temporary liquor license and waiving the fee.
