Re: Committee/Commission Appointments
In December, the City solicited applications for expiring and vacant terms on the Planning
Commission, Parks & Recreation Committee, Wastewater Advisory Committee, and Tourism
Committee.
Planning Commissioner Perry Rynders’ term expires on January 31, 2026. Parks & Recreation
Committee members Terry Gorham and Kimberly Johnson’s terms expire on February 28, 2026.
The current members are not requesting to be re-appointed.
Vacancies exist on the Tourism Committee and the Wastewater Committee for members-at-
large. The Tourism Committee currently has four members and is looking to expand to seven
members. There are no term limits for members of this committee. No applications were
received.
No applications were received for the vacancy on the Wastewater Advisory Committee. Perry
Rynders’ term expires on 2/1/2026 and Perry has asked to be re-appointed for a term expiring
on 2/1/2031.
The following applicants to the Planning Commission and Parks & Recreation Committee will be
interviewed by the City Council at a Special Meeting on January 20, 2026 beginning at 6:00 p.m.
• Planning Commission: Theresa Decker, Laura Weber, Michael Marosok
• Parks & Recreation Committee: Laura Weber, Michael Marosok, Amy Shattuck
At the Regular January 20th meeting, the Council may choose to vote on the following:
1) Move to appoint one of the applicants to the Planning Commission to serve a five-year
term expiring on January 31, 2031.
2) Move to appoint two of the applicants to the Parks & Recreation Committee; one to
serve a four-year term expiring on February 28, 2030 and one to serve a five-year term
expiring on February 28, 2031. This will reset the committee to having staggered terms
each year going forward.
3) Move to re-appoint Perry Rynders to the Wastewater Advisory Committee to serve a
five-year term expiring on January 31, 2031, and continue to solicit applications for the
existing vacancy.
