Re: Brenda Eklund Retirement Transition
Background:
City Clerk Brenda Eklund has shared her desire to retire from the City of Scandia in 2026. To ease her
transition and allow the City to learn the best way to replace her position, Brenda has agreed to continue
working five days a week until Friday, February 27. Starting March 2, Brenda will work two days a week and
will no longer be attending meetings. She will draw down her PTO until it runs out, then continue the two-
day-a-week schedule through the end of 2026. The City will re-evaluate this arrangement as we move
through 2026 to ensure all work is completed in a timely manner.
The City will review the work assigned to the City Clerk position and use this time to gauge whether or not
a full-time replacement is needed.
