10.e Public Works Staff Report Staff Report Date of Meeting: 3/17/2026 For: Mayor and City Council From: Charles Fischer – Director of Public Works Subject: PW - Staff Report Roads/ ROW During the warm stretch of weather Public Works staff began the process of pot hole filling. Staff started with the deepest pot holes and will move into less severe filling when the weather is conducive to start again. Snow events have been mixed in with warm weather and icy conditions have been contributed to the warm pavement and cold temperatures causing an instantaneous freeze when compacted. Staff have responded to these events by scraping and salting when necessary. Parks The holiday lights have been removed throughout the village center area and have been inspected, repaired and stored ready for the next season. Sewer Public Works has been discussing contracting sewer services for the new Nitrogen system set to be installed this year. Due to the advancement in technology to the system and monitoring requirements we are looking to contract a service with experience in this specific system for one to two years, which will also be able to train our staff in the field with hands on expertise on how to manage the new system. Public Works staff continue to work towards attaining Class C operator licenses prior to the start-up of the new nitrogen treatment plant. Buildings Toilets in the City Hall and Community Center bathrooms have been repaired or replaced. Slow leaks and flushing issues were addressed in the main lobby bathrooms and the two women’s toilets in the Hall have been replaced with pressure tank flushing mechanisms. The two toilets in the Hall bathrooms now match the lobby bathrooms and will reduce the flushing problems experienced during heavy use. Equipment The new tandem plow truck has arrived and placed into service. Upon arrival and after inspection of the new truck the old tandem was picked up by the dealer completing the trade-in process.
