Scandia Tourism Committee, Community Center Hall March 24, 2026
Members in Attendance: Sue Dickens, Lynne Moratzka, and Renee Lee. Absent: Jaimin Brown and
Sarah Porubcansky. Additional Attendees: Jim Gribble (City Council) and Brenda “Bee” Stignani
(Office Assistant).
Call to Order Chair Dickens called the meeting to order at 4:17 p.m. A quorum is present.
Motion by Lee, seconded by Moratzka, to approve the agenda with flexibility. Motion carried
unanimously.
Motion by Moratzka, seconded by Dickens, to approve the February 24, 2026 Tourism
Meeting minutes. Motion carried unanimously.
Discussion – Draft Tourism Work Plan
Dickens reviewed the material provided and discussed in the February 24, 2026 meeting.
1. Prepare a strategy of performance measurements.
2. Prepare a strategy for paid advertisement.
3. Introduce one new event in 2026.
Discussion over the handouts – action points:
• Dickens confirmed all committee members received the link to Explore Minnesota coop
membership line, highlighting its inclusion in the minutes Minnesota -
https://mn.gov/tourism-industry/industry-opportunities/partner-with-us/co-op-
marketing.jsp
• City staff clarified the 2026 St Croix Valley Visitors Guide advertisement was $260 and was
paid out of the Tourism budget and will come from this fund for the foreseeable future.
• City staff to provide the expense total spent on VinterLights! banners for reference in
consideration of future banners under consideration.
• Dickens to update the event bookmarks for advertising at National Night Ou, Scandia Farmers
Market and such. Consider starting Fall Crawl earlier, reach out to Creamery for space for
home cottage producers or other businesses to participate who do not have retail space.
• Discussion only of other events:
o Dickens will ask for volunteers to be Scandia Evening Adventures ambassadors to
new Scandia businesses
o VinterLights! brief discission
o Discussion of Park and Recreation Committee’s request by Chair Zauner for TC
contributing to Vinterfest. Further clarification needed.
• April 2nd will be the Zoom meeting with potential key parties to pitch the idea of a bike tour
at Fall Crawl in 2026.
Adjournment – Motion by Dickens, seconded by Lee, to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried
unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 5:28 p.m.
