7.b Email Clarifying Vinterfest Disccusion From: Charles Fischer <c.fischer@ci.scandia.mn.us> To: Greg Zauner <moneyman@frontier.com>; Kyle Morell <k.morell@ci.scandia.mn.us>; Kirsten Libby <k.libby@ci.scandia.mn.us> Cc: b.stignani <b.stignani@ci.scandia.mn.us> Sent: Monday, April 6, 2026 at 10:07:19 AM CDT Subject: Re: Vinterfest 2026 PW Hi Greg, The hours in the chart are all in support of or related to the Vinterfest event as listed in the description. In the chart you will see 30 hours instead of 40 for the week prior and the week after, these are all regular hours and pay rate subtracting the 2 hours per day of normal operation = 30 hrs. All staff time after 3pm Friday and on site Saturday (minus 2 hrs for normal operation hours) is overtime pay because it is outside of our normal working hours. The cost for a pleasure skating only event would really only require office staff time and material as rink maintenance would only need to include our normal operation of resurfacing the ice in the morning, so there would be no cost associated to the event for this. I don't believe there would be much set up cost for PW if this was a pleasure skate event so I would not put any cost to that as well. It may not net zero for cost but would be a couple hundred dollars vs. thousands of dollars. Just for clarification; when you say "normal operation hours have been omitted" are you saying this is all overtime expenses? If not, how much was spent on employee overtime? I realize there wasn't a lot of time to make ice this year because of the weather. You would also have limited time for making pleasure ice if that’s what we had for Vinterfest. How much would it cost if we had open skating instead of a tournament? Thanks
