Motion by Moratzka, seconded by Porubcansky, to approve the March 24, 2026, Tourism
Meeting minutes. Motion carried unanimously.
Garage Sale
The annual City-wide garage sale is set for May 28, 29, and 30. Updated banners will be needed to
correctly convey the right dates. Approximately 10 people have signed up for the event. The
Committee discussed holding the event every other year to avoid fatigue, and will revisit this discussion
after this year's event. Porubcansky asked about using sign -up forms as a Google Doc, which can
then be easily imported into Google Maps, making event mapping easier.
Discussion – Draft Tourism Work Plan
The work plan was discussed at the joint Tourism EDA meeting in March. It was well received by
the group.
Potential Bike Ride
Dickens expressed concerns about the proposed route of the ride, specifically the section along Hwy
8 through Lindstrom. She also noted that the ride started and ended in Scandia, but did not stop
anywhere in the community or highlight anything in the community. Porubcansky loves the idea of a
bike ride but is concerned about the route's liability. Staff said they would check with the County
Sheriff’s to see if permits are needed and check with the City’s insurance about coverage for the event.
The committee discussed only going to the Karl Oskar House and back, traveling from the
Community Center, north on Olinda, and then potentially offering return trips back down Olinda or
along Chisago Boulevard to Lofton Ave and the Moody Barn before returning to t he Community
Center. Porubcansky will work on the routes. The committee also discussed a potential start time of
10 am, possible events at the Karl Oskar House, and desserts at the Community Center once the ride
is completed. Planning for this event will continue to May.
Adjournment – Motion by Dickens, seconded by Moratzka, to adjourn the meeting. Motion
carried unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 5:17 p.m.
Respectfully submitted by
Kyle Morell, City Administrator
