Thank you for giving DNR the opportunity to comment on this proposed zoning ordinance
amendment. We agree with the watershed district that the city’s shoreland ordinance is
missing Minn. Stat. 462.357, Subd. 1e(i). This statutory provision is included in DNR’s
model shoreland ordinance within Section 3.7. This omission was likely an oversight. The
ordinance should be brought into compliance with the entirety of this statute. We
recommend that this omission be brought to the planning commission’s attention and
brought forward by staff as an additional amendment.
