SCANDIA GOOD NEIGHBOR AWARD PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, respecting, caring for, and helping others is a hallmark of the American
character, and central to how we as a community live; and
WHEREAS, respect and care for and from neighbors creates a more sustainable,
resilient community and makes Scandia a great place to live and be; and
WHEREAS, Scandia throughout its history has been the beneficiary of being a
community of Good Neighbors; and
WHEREAS, Brenda Eklund is recognized as a Good Neighbor in Scandia as she has
been one of those people—serving the City of Scandia for 22 years, with dedication,
patience, and a steady hand; and
WHEREAS, through years of change, challenge, and growth, Brenda has been a
constant presence—someone colleagues could rely on, residents could trust, and
elected officials could turn to for guidance and perspective; and
WHEREAS, her work was never just about agendas, minutes, or procedures, but about
helping people—answering questions, solving problems, and ensuring that every
person who interacted with the City felt heard and respected; and
WHEREAS, Brenda Eklund carried out her responsibilities with humility,
professionalism, and a genuine care for this community, leaving behind not just a record
of service, but a legacy of trust and kindness; and
WHEREAS, her retirement marks the closing of an important chapter for the City of
Scandia, and provides an opportunity to reflect with gratitude on all she has given to this
community;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Scandia proudly honors Brenda
Eklund with the Scandia Good Neighbor Award for her unwavering dedication, selfless
service, and generous spirit.
