10.e Public Works Report Staff Report Date of MeeƟng: 06/16/2026 For: Mayor and City Council From: Charles Fischer – Director of Public Works Subject: PW - Staff Report Roads/ ROW Staff have completed addiƟonal patching and pothole filling on the roads scheduled to be seal coated which includes: Meadowbrook Ave, 180th/Kirby, 228th St, Oren/213th and the FD/PW parking lot. The weather system which moved through June 9th/10th caused mulƟple trees to fall in the ROW and over the road in the northwest secƟon of the city. Staff spent two days opening up roadways and cleaning up trees and debris. Our new staff members, Owen and Bryan, are already transiƟoning into the regular maintenance schedule well and were a great asset during the storm cleanup. ‘No Development Traffic’ signs have been placed at the inlet and outlet of the Odell Ave neighborhood in regards to the amount of addiƟonal traffic the Laural Ridge development on 205th has caused. AddiƟonal ‘No Parking’ signs will be placed on Novak Ave as well, but believe contractor parking should subside once the corner lot of 205th and Novak is or near complete. Parks The Wayne Erickson field has conƟnued to be a busy park site with an average of two to three rentals per week. AddiƟonal Ɵme has been spent maintaining the infield and mowing the park in preparaƟon for the consistent rentals. Sewer Public Works has been working with the contractor for the Bliss Nitrogen project. So far on-site changes have been made in the locaƟon of the underground infrastructure based on exisƟng site condiƟons and other uƟliƟes found during excavaƟon. Equipment The public works loader is down and in for repair of the axle. The shiŌ linkage failed and caused damage within the gear box. The equipment repair budget will be impacted greatly with this repair. Final costs are to be determined. Although the repair line item will be impacted the overall general public works budget will be able to absorb the cost. Update: The final cost of the repair was $31,600 and the loader is back in service. AŌer further invesƟgaƟon the best pracƟcal repair was to completely replace the rear axle instead of replacing the axle piece by piece which would have costed nearly the same amount due to addiƟonal labor Ɵme. Staff Report Date of MeeƟng: 06/16/2026 For: Mayor and City Council From: Charles Fischer – Director of Public Works Subject: PW - Staff Report New Staff Owen Dylong started on June 1st and Bryan Gravelle started on June 9th and have been working through training over the last two weeks. Currently they have completed the necessary all staff safety training and will be working on specialized safety training to the Public Works department over the next month. Both Owen and Bryan will be working to acquire a Class A drivers license and Class E Water license by September. The wastewater licenses will be scheduled as soon as both employees have reached the required on-site work experience. Each wastewater license has a specific period of Ɵme requirement prior to applying to take the respecƟve test.
