Housing Development Discussion
Scandia Cottages
I reached out to the Washington County CDA about the history of the Cottages. Unfortunately,
no one at the CDA was around when the Cottages were built. Melissa Taphorn, the CDA
Director, said she would look into this and get back to me. I followed up with her on Friday,
May 22, but have not heard back.
I followed up with the CDA and the Mayor, and I met with them on June 2. We were put in
touch with a builder who has built many affordable housing units in the metro area. I will keep
you posted on any conversations we have.
Business Breakfast
The EDA is taking back responsibility for planning and hosting the business breakfast event,
which the Tourism Committee has hosted since the EDA stopped meeting in 2022. This Board
wanted to discuss the planning of these events again. I believe the breakfasts were held quarterly
in the past. I have asked Sue Dickens, the Tourism Committee Chairman, about the work her
committee did in previous years when hosting these events.
