Park and Rec
Judi,
I just wanted to let you know I won't be at this months park and rec meeting. I'm in Hawaii and didn't
realize that the meeting is the day before I get back. Sorry for the late notice.
I also checked with the Forest Lake Ice Arena and they charge $1,000 per year with a 3 year minimum
for ad space on their hockey boards. They have the customer pay for the sign that they have Gator
Signs in Forest Lake make. I also checked with Stillwater and they charge $1,000 a year and if you pay
for 3 years you get a $500 discount. I tried to get information on the St. Croix Falls ice rink and it's
owned by the Polk county fair and I'm still waiting to hear from them about advertising pricing. Both of
these arenas are year round and get more traffic then Scandia, so I think we could charge $500 a year
with a 3 year contract.
I checked at the Forest Lake arena to see who handles their vending and they use Bernicks. I called
Bernicks for pricing info and Scandia is outside their territory. I'll have to see who handles the
Stillwater vending. I'm wondering if we could get the council to borrow park and rec the money to buy
one or two vending machines and just stock them ourselves. I'm thinking a pop and snack machine. We
could use the money earned at the beginning to pay back the council and then the rest could all go back
into the rink. This way the rink would get all the money, minus the cost of the concessions. Hope you guys
have a great meeting. Let me know if there is anything else I can do before next meeting.
Thanks,
