OLD BUSINESS Story Contest The Committee noted that the winning story will be selected during the Community Fun Day event on August 19. This year's voting will take place at the Community Center in conjunction with the Levitt concert series event rather than at Lilleskogen Park. Vinterfest Planning The Committee discussed ideas for additional activities during Vinterfest, particularly competitive events that encourage participation. Weber suggested hosting a community skate night featuring complimentary hot chocolate and cookies to encourage greater community participation and provide additional family-friendly opportunities at the skating rink. Members also discussed coordinating with local businesses to provide coupons and exploring the use of licensed food vendors to simplify food service requirements. Master Plan Capital Plan Project Discussion The Committee continued reviewing the Master Plan project list following the pre-meeting tour of Wayne Erickson Park. Members questioned whether replacing the existing playground should remain a priority given the availability of nearby playgrounds at the Community Center and elementary school. Discussion included tracking playground usage before making future investment decisions, the potential liability of aging equipment, and whether future funding would be better directed toward improvements such as a pavilion, concession stand, expanded parking, or other park amenities. Staff will investigate methods for monitoring park usage, and the Committee will continue reviewing park priorities following additional park tours.
