3. 7 Fire Department comments on Log House LandingNeil Soltis From: Mike Hinz <mike.hinz@scandiafire.com> Sent: Wednesday, May 3, 2017 8:36 AM To: Neil Soltis Cc: Bill Havener; Ian Skarja Subject: Re: additional documents for Council work session Hi Neil, I will not be at the meeting tonight as I have a chiefs meeting. I did want to say a few words about the Log House Landing. As a fire department we feel this landing needs to be open for emergencies, we do have concern that if it is turned to carry in only that maintenance could be overlooked due to no one informing the city of problems. This landing is 2.5 miles north of the William O'Brien park landing and is open all year, the park closes the road to their landing in the winter. 2.5 miles travel time on the river is very long time frame since the river is always changing and full of unseen hazards. The City has about 6.5 miles of river we boarder, with William O'Brien being at the southern most edge. In closing the fire department would like to see this landing left with its current use and design or improved to make it more usable for our large equipment. Neil if you could please pass this to the council. Thank you, Mike Hinz Chief, Scandia Fire & Rescue Station 651-433-4383 Cell 651-303-4611
