Housing Development Discussion
Morell presented a framework for a housing seminar put together by Chavis. The work focused
on the types of housing allowed in Scandia, various rehabilitation and renovation programs
available, and accessory dwelling units. Chavis envisions a number of short presentations, a
question-and-answer session, and kiosks where residents can have more detailed discussions or
gather information. The County CDA will also be invited to speak on programs they have
available. The Board targeted late February 2027 as the event's timeframe and will work to
finalize presentations and details at later meetings.
Business Breakfast
The Committee has scheduled its first business breakfast for October 7 at 7:00 am. Treasurer
Korby put together an agenda for the event, which includes time for breakfast, networking, and a
presentation by the County CDA on programs available to help small businesses. The EDA will
look to gather at the event to determine what services it can provide to our local businesses in the
future.
Scandia Merchandise
Korby informed the Board that the apparel shop the City has been talking to can sell items at a
markup for the EDA and send funds back. She will share the link with the Board and see if they
want anything else added to the store before it goes live. President Kronmiller has talked with
the owner of Scratch that Etch, a local business that can engrave items with logos and sayings.
The owner will be invited to the September meeting to discuss setting up a store for the City.
Items for future discussions: Business breakfast; Housing seminar and merchandise sales
Next meeting has been scheduled: Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 6:30 PM
Motion to adjourn made at 7:49 p.m. by Chaves and seconded by Smith. Motion carried
unanimously.
Respectfully submitted by:
Kyle Morell, EDA Executive Director
