Roads/ ROW
ROW mowing has shiŌed into the second and third passes clearing the ditches of brush and other unwanted
vegetaƟon. Public Works strives to complete these second and third passes throughout the City between Sept 1 st
and the beginning of the snow plowing season. I do not believe the department has ever been able to complete
this task since the incepƟon of the 2016 ROW mowing policy which lists the hard start date of Sept 1st for full
ROW mowing. Due not the inability to complete the full ROW mowing in the fall over the last 10 years has
caused excessive brush growth increasing the amount of Ɵme needed to clear these areas. Although we are
making progress the brush mower will need to conƟnue mulching brush throughout the enƟre growing season.
We are not clear-cuƫng enƟre ROW’s during the growing season prior to Sept 1st unless the enƟre ROW of a
roadway has become overgrown.
Pothole patching has conƟnued throughout the season and will complete one more round of patching through
the city prior to winter.
Tree trimming within the ROW will begin soon and staff will focus on specific areas where trees have grown
directly overhead of the roadway. Due to the mixed stand of trees within the ROW public works has been wai Ɵng
to start tree trimming to align with the recommended tree trimming Ɵming to reduce disease and pest
transmission.
Parks
Upgrades have been made to the Wayne Erickson electric supply outlet outside of the storage shed and near the
bleachers. The exisƟng outlets no longer met code standards and are now up to code and safe for the public to
use during rentals or events.
Staff Licensing
Owen and Bryan have completed the Class A driving school and passed their pre-trip and driving tests. Both now
meet the employee requirement to hold a Class A driver’s license.
Buildings
The landscape bed which was removed in front of the FD/PW main entrance will become a concrete surface
soon. A contractor will complete the pour the week of Sept 14th. Public Works completed all the base prep work
needed to save overall cost of the project.
